Revenue Sharing¶
Licensors pay license fees that are proportional to the energy (in kWh) their hardware consumes. This ensures that FreeU softaware is aligned with best practices to reduce global climate change.
All license fees are shared among developers based on the popularity of their software.
Usage Profiles¶
There are two kinds of usage profiles: specific license scans and general usage profiles.
License Scans¶
Licensors have the option of running a license scan of their machines, in exchange for a license discount. Developer revenue in this case is based on the presence of the developer's codes within the scan profiles.
General Usage¶
Not all Licensors will submit license scans. For those that do not conduct scans, a "general usage profile" will be used based on an averages of all license scans worldwide.
Developer Reveue¶
Revenue is split among developers based on a combination of scan-specific use plus the general popularity of their software. As their software changes in popularity developers can expect their revenue to follow.
Complementary Products and Services¶
Developers may sell complementary products and services. FreeU license fees are over-and-above these charges and ensure that their fellow developers receive just compensation.
